Kat Von D lock it foundation

IMG_7206Since i’ve found Kat Von D’s eye products and face powder to be really good i decided to give her foundation a shot! The Lock It foundation range offers 32 different shades. The shades are divided into the categories light, medium and deep. And then that range is divided into cool, neutral or warm undertones. So yeah, you should be able to find a color suited to your skin!

IMG_7283My first impression was that this was way to thick for me. Kat herself claims that this foundation should be able to cover tattoos, and i figured this would just end up feeling like stage makeup on my face. Luckily, i was wrong! The foundation is definitely “thick” and a little goes a long way, but honestly i can’t even tell i’m wearing any foundation when i have this on. It applies so smoothly and thin when applied with a damp beauty blender and then sits there all day looking flawless. I never expected this from a foundation marketed as “full coverage, long lasting, matte finish”. Those are often my red warning flags and i tend to get the fuck outta there.

This is not a foundation i would wear if i want a natural look with a dewy skin finish. But i wear this to work (without a primer) and still stays put after a 14 hour shift. I am very pleased that it does not oxidse or get gunky on the skin. On the photo above i have applied one pump of Lock it foundation to my face with a beauty blender and LOOK at that coverage! I suddenly get this beautiful veil of porcelain skin.

Diverse shade range
Long lasting
Doesn’t feel tacky or dry on skin

Requires some work. Beautyblender is the best/only option for an even result
Does not provide a ”natural look”
Very thick, could get cakey if you powder to much or apply it with a heavy hand
