We’ll go from kind and gentle to turbomode! Acid might sound very scary and a lot of people may hesitate to try it in fear of ruining their skin. Now trust me, that’s not the case. Acids are awesome and will improve your skin drastically!
IMPORTANT!!!: If you decide to use acids you HAVE TO USE SUN SCREEN!!!!
What is it? Enzymes are chemicals that speed up the rate of chemical reactions without being consumed in the reaction themselves (yes, i googled that definition). Enzymes are a great way to exfoliate your skin. Look for fruit enzymes such as pineapple, blueberry and papaya.
How often should i use this? Enzymes are often found in face masks such as the AWESOME Emma S treatment Enzyme peel and I would recommend you use it once or twice a week.
What is it? BHA goes down into your pores and dissolves dirt and sebum. This is really good if you have a lot of blackheads. But remember to moisturize as BHA dissolves the sebum (moisture) in your skin.
How often should i use this? BHA is a great acid to use during daytime since it does not make the skin as sensitive as AHA. I use BHA three times a week. Paulas Choice 2% BHA liquid or COSRX BHA Blackhead liquid are good products
AHA alpha hydroxyd acids
What is it? The greatest thing. This motherfucker fries away dead skin cells and brightens the skin. In smaller doses, such as the pixi glow tonic which has 5% glycolic acid, it simply makes sure your skin is even and glowy.
How often do i use this? Daily in smaller doses. Peeling pads with 10-20% i would only use 2 times a week.
What is it? The molecular structure in mandolin acid is larger and it takes longer for it to penetrate the skin. It works slower and is thus less irritating to sensitive skin
How often do i use this? EVERY DAY, I bathe in this shit. I actually use mandelic acid with anything. I combine it with vitamin C, AHA and BHA. My favorite is the ByWishtrend mandelic acid
What is it: Glycolic acids gentle sister. Lactic acid is derived from milk so it has moisturizing properties and works great on sensitive skin.
How often can i use this? Daily
Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)
What is it good for? Vitamin C is a beautiful antioxidant that reduces fine lines and brightens dark spots. Purito has a great one for like 100kr, check on eBay.
How often can i use this? Daily. Vitamin C is kind and gentle to the skin. In summer time this is the only acid i use. Suits every skin type.
What is it good for? Retinol communicates with your cells and makes them behave nicely. While held at gun point the cells will slow your aging, remove pigmentation spots and give you more elasticity.
How often can i use this? On it’s own you can use this daily, IF YOU ARE USED TO IT. This is turbo mode, so please start off slowly and never mix this with other acids on the same day.
Is there such a way to over exfoliate?
Yes, there is. If you throw on AHA, BHA and vitamin C at the same time daily your skin might get irritated and start breaking out. It depends on your skin type really. But don’t worry, if you get irritated just stop using acids, be kind to your skin and it will go away. This has happened to me and I simply took a break for a few weeks and stripped my skincare routine down to the minimum. Redness, dryness, peeling skin and spots are the spawn of satan and you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life
